Patricia Bullrich asked for the "urgent" treatment of the Juvenile Penal Regime and crossed Kicillof: "Your uselessness is costing lives"

The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich , asked the National Congress for the "urgent" treatment of the Juvenile Penal Regime , after the murder of Kim Gómez in La Plata at the hands of criminals aged 14 and 17.
" Argentines cannot wait any longer . We cannot continue to allow impunity for juvenile offenders, and even less so for repeat offenders," he said through his X account.
The national official also questioned the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, due to the new crime that adds to the wave of insecurity that is affecting the main district of the country.
" Kicillof, your uselessness is costing lives . Let's hope your deputies approve this law, or are you in favor of this continuing to happen?" he added.
The minister's post comes after the case of the girl who was inside the car with her mother when two thieves intercepted them, and who died because she was unable to get out of the vehicle after being dragged for about 20 blocks.
The criminals were captured moments after the incident and it was confirmed that they were two teenagers aged 14 and 17.

In 2024, the Government presented a bill that proposes a special juvenile penal regime for young people from the age of 13, while the opposition wanted it to be from the age of 14.
Bullrich, along with her Justice counterpart, Mariano Cúneo Libarona, presented the initiative that was debated in the Criminal Legislation, Justice and Budget committees. But the text did not advance in parliamentary treatment.
Bullrich's initiative states that "the adolescent must be housed in an appropriate detention center or in a separate section for adults in a prison establishment, suitable for the treatment of adolescents, which each jurisdiction will organize following the general principles established."
The issue of "accommodation" in the event of arrest was another focus of discussion. Many believe that it should not be a separate section within a regular prison, although everyone agrees that they cannot be with people over 18.
The text states that “the imposition of life sentences and life imprisonment shall be prohibited,” with the maximum term of such sentences being 20 years.
